Yesterday, I was an idiot.

To be fair, I am often an idiot, but yesterday, Shaun was prepping to eat a ridiculously spicy chip and I was trying to figure out dinner for everyone because Em was home for the weekend and she is not eating a lot of refined carbs or fatty foods. I am not eating beef or pork for medical reasons, and Shaun needed some high-fat, high-carb food to grease his stomach in preparation for the chip.

So we’re all standing around the kitchen island and we settled on a super unhealthy cheeseburger and fries for Shaun, mussels and fries for me and mussels and salad for Em.

Em said, “Why aren’t you eating salad?”

I said that I didn’t want to because that I didn’t want Shaun to miss out eating the salad and feel envious and suffer.

They both gawped at me.

Em said something like “why would you do that?”
