Pogie and Mr. Murphy on the Couch
Animal Thoughts in a Stoic Way Today
Me: What are you two doing?
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Me: You know, it's totally fine to hunker on your side of the couch.
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Me: You can press against the arms of it.
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Me: You can focus on the gulf in between you, the dips, the cracks, the dog fur. And you can focus on the weirdness that might be happening on the other side of that couch.
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Me: But the thing is? We're all on the same couch. So, it might be worth it to make the whole couch a better couch, you know?
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Pogie: But he keeps making bad smells. Really bad smells.
Me:
Mr. Murphy: I had some celery. What can I say?
Me:
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Me: I was trying to write an "we're all in this together" post.
Pogie: We're all smelling this together.
Me:
Pogie and Mr. Murphy:
Me: Look, even when things are smelly, even when the couch divide seems really big and no snuggling is happen, we are still on the same couch. And that means to make the best couch situation that we can make, we have to fill our actions with love, with hope, with plans, with more love, with--
Pogie: With air freshener?
Me: Yeah, that too.
