This dog . . . this dog is pretty much the coolest dog ever.

She is not my dog.

She lives on our street, about halfway down, and whenever I walk in and she's out by her tree, people stop and pet her.

She's pretty much a celebrity, all dog-famous around here. Why? Because she loves, she's enthusiastic about the people and dogs she meets. Because she is kind.

We should all be dog-famous, I think. Loved for being eager, for being kind, for bouncing down the street toward a Halloween school parade (like she is here), showing everyone our favorite toy and loving them all back when they say hello.

There was a lot of joy when this pup showed up at our school's Halloween parade yesterday. I wish we could all give that joy to each other when we see each other.

Happy first of November to you. Try to find some joy and strength this month, okay?
