Why, hello! It’s the weekend, a Sunday actually, and a really beautiful day in Maine. I’m baking bread, listening to Mr. Murphy dog like his leg and Shaun type behind me.
And, of course, I’m writing this so that we can work together (me too!) toward writing some hit novels, damn it.
Yep. Yep. Cursing on a Sunday, my mom would say that I’m heading “straight to Hell in a handbasket.” I have no idea what that means, actually. I should look it up.
But, before I do, let’s get started.

Back in 2012, James Hall wrote a book about “cracking the code” of the last century’s “biggest bestsellers.” And these next few Saturdays, I’m going to be examining that because I think I could use a bit of a refresher, too.
