Daniel Levitin, professor emeritus of psychology and behavioral neuroscience at McGill University, Montreal and founding dean of arts and humanities at the Minerva Schools at KGI in San Francisco, has a term for this:
Satisficing.
It’s part of how our brains don’t spend energy and resources on things or tasks that it shouldn’t need to. We go, eh.
