Shaun, my husband, makes fun of me a lot because I cry at good things like when I see a clip of a group winning a talent show, when a friend’s baby gets out of the ICU. This morning one of my friends posted on Facebook that his baby was out of the ICU.He wrote,
“There’s no more wires, tubes, or iv’s hooked to him. Finally we have a “wireless” baby! He’s starting to gain weight and we’re mastering our diaper skills.”
And I basically hopped out of bed, danced around the bedroom and sang, “Their baby is good. Their baby is good. Their baby is good.”
Honestly, just writing about that is making my eyes leak right now.
The reason for that is empathy. We don’t think about it this way much, but empathy is about more than just sadness or feeling other people’s troubles. It’s also about understanding and support. It’s about good emotions, too. And it’s about learning.
That’s what this post is about today.
