This is a photo from the very cool SPCA of Hancock County.
It's of a boy, Loeb, who was rescued with a lot of others from an animal cruelty case.
I wrote a story for our news site about an upcoming event (you can find that below).
But if you can adopt a pet? That's awesome. If you can't, but you can donate to people that help animals? That's awesome. If you can't do that, but you can volunteer? That's super cool, too.
I know that humans can be mean (I just had a mean email today, actually) when they feel insecure or sad or hurt or scared or when they are just addicted to it, but compassion and love and stepping back before being reactive? It's pretty awesome.
And acts of kindness--big and small--for other people, for the environment and community around you, for animals?
It's such a balm.
Kindness is a balm for so much of our brokenness.
